BYO Public Hearing

Darien Town Hall, February 6th at 8 PM

On Wednesday February 6th, the Public Works, Public Health & Safety, and Town Government Structure & Administration Committees of the RTM will hold a Public Hearing  in the Darien Town Hall Auditorium located at 2 Renshaw Road,  for the purpose of affording the general public an opportunity to be heard concerning the proposed “Ordinance for the Management of Plastic and Paper Checkout Bags in Darien.” Residents can hear the discussion, and state their thoughts on this important environmental initiative. This is an important part of the democratic process in Darien.

Anyone can come and speak, each speaker will be given 3 minutes/ one time to speak. This is a very important meeting because based on it, the RTM will decide if the matter should be brought to an RTM vote at a subsequent meeting.

At this time, Darien is the only coastal town between Greenwich and Westport that has not banned single use plastic bags.  At town meeting in all the other towns, residents, students, business - spoke up on the need for such an ordinance. We need to do the same here in Darien.

Please help us by joining forces with BYODarien to bring attention to the issue of plastic bag pollution. Here are some very important ways you can help:
